INDUS provides industrial support services across the Undersea Weapons Department (Code 30), Test and Evaluation Department (Code 20), Undersea Systems & Sustainment Department (Code 40) and Unmanned and Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department (Code 50), of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport (NUWCDIVKPT). Requirements include providing technical support services associated with various industrial operations, depot repair activities, and torpedo intermediate maintenance functions.

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Technical Instructor / Course Developer on the NUWCDIVKPT Industrial Support Services (ISS) contract. This position is located in Keyport, WA.

What You'll Do

  • Create NEO curriculum that delivers learning objectives. Work with SMEs to develop materials for additional instructors to use in these courses. Observe/monitor NEO classes and create additional curriculum that increases student success.
    • Work toward building a training program that meets the criteria established for Council on Occupational Education (COE) accreditation.
    • Deliver and facilitate technical instruction to New Employee Orientation based on specific learning objective competencies and participate in new curriculum development when new designs are incorporated.
    • Develop and maintain the NEO class schedule ensuring that all instructors have been contacted and FLS are informed.
  • Ensure there are adequate training supplies available for the beginning of each class.
  • Conduct a weekly inventory of all training material (i.e. reading material, training hardware). 
  • Perform administrative functions in ASM/ESAMS to include creating new users and managing personnel assignments, the ability to perform PCS Check-in/out of user records. Update Medical expirations when new forms are received. 
  • Perform Duties/Responsibilities of the 8023 Qual/Cert Training Administrator. 
  • Brief and/or apprise Quality Manager regarding status of QAI training program efficacy, training assessment performance and attendance reports.
  • Assist Qualification/Training Manager with developing training learning objective competencies for the NEO area of responsibilities.
  • Develop and analyze criterion-referenced assessments (vs. norm-referenced)
    • Criterion-referenced test defines the performance of each test taker w/o regard to the performance of others…based on specific learning/training objectives (used to assess competency; when concerned with assessing an individual’s ability to demonstrate a specific skill or cognitive ability).
    • Norm-referenced test defines the performance of test takers in relation to one another (often predictive in nature, used to choose the best test takers among a group)
  • Analyze validity, reliability of test items (item analysis)
  • Perform periodic needs assessments (ensure our learning/training objectives and associated exams meet the needs of our workforce)
  • Work toward incorporating more innovative training efforts, including technology-based elements/measures.
    • Develop a more robust lab facility (fixed and/or mobile).
    • Develop/maintain CBT products.
    • Develop/maintain video products, esp. as continuing or JIT training resources and/or as elements of qualification guides.
  • Assist with developing training delivery competencies among workforce SMEs.
  • Support data management efforts.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required. 
  • At least five (5) years of experience developing course curriculum and training centered around industrial services and/or torpedo repair.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Your ability to receive medical certification (if required).
  • Your ability to obtain and maintain any appropriate licenses and certifications (if required).
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking. 
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds. 
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as in performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities. 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Formal education as curriculum developer or as an instructor.
  • Formal communications education.
  • Familiarity with Navy systems and/or weapons.

 

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $36.00/hr. – $38.00/hr. The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
