Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) and working in conjunction with Executive Vice President (EVP) – East Coast, the Sr. Business Development (BD) Manager will be responsible for developing and qualifying an opportunity pipeline, implementing capture strategies, and leading bid and proposal efforts for the National Capital Region (NCR). The Sr. BD Manager will also support transition and management of newly awarded task orders, primarily for NAVSEA or NCR opportunities. This position is located in Washington, D.C.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement market growth and business development strategies for the National Capital Region. This position will have a primary focus on, but not be limited to, the NAVSEA market.
  • Monitor industry and market trends.
  • Develop call plans to engage with Government stakeholders to understand long-term objectives and near-term requirements and other applicable intelligence to support market growth and business development strategies.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities to build an 18—24-month pipeline for new business within the National Capital Region.
  • Establish credible teams and negotiate associated Teaming Agreements, in coordination with the EVP, CGO and CEO.
  • Lead bid and proposal efforts, to include authoring Management Approaches, Technical Approaches, Transition Plans, Staffing Plans, Cost Narratives and other documents required for compelling, compliant proposals.
  • Lead transitions and management of newly awarded task orders.
  • Present capture strategies and status updates to executive leadership; this may be required on an ad hoc basis or through recurring Pipeline Reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with the business development team to support broader capture efforts across the company, as applicable.
  • Facilitate marketing/capability briefs to prospective clients and represent INDUS at industry conferences and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant field of study (technical degree is highly desired).
  • 10+ years of experience in the defense industry supporting Echelon II and Echelon III Commands.
  • Navy experience in, but not limited to, NAVSEA, NAVWAR, NIWCs, NUWCs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing sales and engagement materials to include authoring white papers, presentations, and proposals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in understanding federal contracting opportunity assessment, proposal execution, and capture requirements (e.g., Shipley Process).
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous capture efforts and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong proposal writing and proposal management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to build rapport.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Travel Required: ~25% travel required (to client and corporate destinations such as Charleston, SC, Newport, RI, Washington, D.C., San Diego, CA, Panama City Beach, FL, and beyond!).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant field of study (technical degree is highly desired).
  • Experience with PEO Ships, PEO IWS, PEO Digital, PEO MLB, MARMC and/or SERMC.
  • Direct experience with Navy platforms, systems, systems of systems and/or technologies.

 

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $170,000. – $250,000. This position is eligible to participate in our corporate 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) programs, and may be eligible for performance bonuses, and other rewards and benefits (see more about our compensation package and benefits offered at Culture @ INDUS | INDUS Technology). The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
