The Comptroller Group and the Program and Business Analysis Department, known as the Business and Financial Management Community (BFMC), provides business and financial services and products that improve performance, quality, timeliness, and efficiency throughout the organization including the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) and the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).This work provides for support services in maintaining daily operations of the Comptroller Group. The NAWCAD Comptroller performs financial support services for NAWCAD and NAVAIR Headquarters.

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Accounting Clerk II is responsible for providing defense travel financial management and administrative support services to the NAWCAD Comptroller Group and Business Analysis Group. Additionally, support services may include administrative functions, data entry accounting processes, deficiency identification, professional and analytical support, funds management, financial execution/tracking, internal and external data calls, and assessing the financial systems relative to data integrity and corporate end user reporting requirements.

 

This position provides support for the Defense Travel System (DTS) by assisting users with document processing, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). The Travel Clerk II reviews and verifies travel authorizations and vouchers, makes limited adjustments, logs actions in the Service Now Assistance Portal (SNAP), and communicates with travelers or preparers to resolve issues. Additional duties may include bid and proposal support and other assigned tasks. This position is located in Patuxent River, MD.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct application and travel administration support for the Defense Travel System and its user community
  • Walk users through document processing steps and provide basic troubleshooting assistance
  • Provide guidance related to business rules and JTR (Joint Travel Regulation) compliance
  • Utilize the SNAP (Service Now Assistance Portal) call logging system to receive trouble calls, record documents reviewed, adjustments made, and contact made with travelers or travel preparers
  • Review documents using the Defense Travel System (DTS) to verify travel authorizations and vouchers are in compliance with JTR/JFTR regulations and Command directives
  • When necessary, make limited adjustments to travel authorizations or vouchers, and/or contact travelers or travel preparers by telephone to gather further information or resolve more complex issues
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance based on a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 (T3) investigation. 
  • HS Diploma required.
  • At least two - four (2-4) years of experience in customer service.
  • Must be able to pass background check and Investigation for Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Ability to work until 5:00pm 
  • Must possess basic computer literacy, data entry, and math skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in a related field is desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
