The Comptroller Group and the Program and Business Analysis Department, known as the Business and Financial Management Community (BFMC), provides business and financial services and products that improve performance, quality, timeliness, and efficiency throughout the organization including the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) and the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).This work provides for support services in maintaining daily operations of the Comptroller Group. The NAWCAD Comptroller performs financial support services for NAWCAD and NAVAIR Headquarters.

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the General Clerk II is responsible for providing financial management and administrative support services to the NAWCAD Comptroller Group and Business Analysis Group. Additionally, support services may include administrative functions, data entry accounting processes, deficiency identification, professional and analytical support, funds management, financial execution/tracking, internal and external data calls, and assessing the financial systems relative to data integrity and corporate end user reporting requirements. This position is located in Patuxent River, MD.

What You'll Do

  • Follows clearly detailed procedures in performing simple repetitive tasks in the same sequence.
  • Responsibilities include filing pre-coded documents in a chronological file or operating office equipment (e.g., mimeograph, photocopy, addressograph, or mailing machine).

  • Uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence.

  • Provide overarching budget and financial support.

  • Track, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete.

  • Data entry for accounting processes.

  • Running various reports in financial systems.

  • May also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office suite of tools to support budgetary and financial analyses, and develop reports and briefs regarding program status, progress, financial performance, or other information.

  • Maintain records of historical execution and associated documentation.

  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • Two (2) years of experience providing financial management support to DoD/DoN.
  • An understanding of Navy Working Capital Funds (NWCF) and General Funds.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in accounting or a related field is desired.
  • Knowledge of interdependencies within and between Navy financial, accounting, and business systems.

  • Experience with Programming and Budgeting Information System (PBIS) Database, PBIS Web, PDOCS, RDOCS, COBRA, and the Budget Planning System (BPS) in preparing and analyzing budget exhibits, monitoring, and controlling budgets.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
