The Sensors and SONAR Systems Department, Code 15, of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport is responsible for full spectrum engineering, development and research pertaining to Sensors, SONAR and Undersea Warfare. Platforms include submarines, surface ships, surveillance, and distributed networks. Code 15 requires contract services to support Business Operations across the department including Data Center, Property Management, Information Technology & Cybersecurity, Financial Analysis and Project Management. Code 15 serves as the Navy’s Technical Direction Agent (TDA) and In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for surface, submarine, and undersea SONAR systems. Code 15 supports NAVSEA sponsors through a variety of technical programs including AN/BQQ-10, AN/SQQ-89, Maritime Surveillance Systems, Towed Systems, Advanced Development and Science and Technology (S&T).
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Management Specialist provides administrative and operations support on the Code 15 Business Operations Support Services contract. This position is located in Newport, RI. on the Code 15 Business Operations Support Services contract. This position is located in Newport, RI. This position will function as a part-time role.
Generate or update project documentation and materials, including agendas, schedules, meeting minutes, status reports, task books, system engineering notebooks, and presentations.
Generate electronic and paper copies of documents and material for distribution or for retention in the Code 15 Data Center or program and project databases.
Track, consolidate, and update action item lists, status reports, and risk management material.
Perform data assessment and provide recommendations to support and improve department operational activities, facilities, and physical workspaces.
Provide administrative support such as data entry, calendar management, room reservations, answering phones, and office supply management.
Provide technical writing services to write and edit material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installations, operations, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
Prepare material for public release and ensure proper classification and marking of documentation.
Use advanced technical, editorial, and strategic communication skills applied towards the development of materials for use with a wide range of internal audiences.
Research and develop written and visual products that highlight Division accomplishments.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Experience with required software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills.
Functional experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel applications.
Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Must possess strong time management skills.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
