The Shore and Expeditionary Integration Program Office (PMW 790) is acquiring support services in the areas of production systems engineering, logistics, installation management, and integration/planning/requirements services for the architecture, integration, acquisition, and support of multiple shore and expeditionary Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) programs. PMW 790's mission is to acquire, integrate, deliver, and support interoperable shore-based C4I capabilities for the warfighter. PMW 790’s vision is to be the preeminent provider of integrated shore-based transformational Network Centric Warfare capabilities to the warfighter by providing assured connectivity between tactical forces and higher commands. The overarching goal is to ensure C4I systems programmed for installation on Navy ships have matching shore facilities of appropriate capacity to support Fleet deployments worldwide. Our goal is to migrate the shore sites and their terrestrial interconnections into a coherent, scalable, network-centric communications and multiplexing fabric designed to optimize functionality by effecting improvements that both satisfy current shortfalls and, wherever possible, provide the building blocks for future C4I architecture.

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Sr. Systems Engineer oversees a wide range of systems engineering support for design, development, production, and modernization activities including system analysis, system integration, modeling and simulation, and participation in requirements development and maintenance. The ideal candidate has prior experience considering details like cost, schedules and social issues that may be associated with a project. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

What You'll Do

  • Manages the development cycle associated with producing resilient software, hardware and web applications.
  • Develops information technology systems that will provide system capabilities required for projected workloads and plans layout and installation of new system or modification of existing system.
  • Responsible for integrating various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices.
  • May also include the following duties for specific functions/roles within the team:
    • Reviews system design elements for Shore Installation Requirements Drawings (IRD), Installation Design Plans (IDPs), and As-Built drawings in compliance with Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH).
    • Reviews and provides feedback of C4I installation drawings and redlines drawing packages using industry standard AutoCAD drafting software or Adobe Acrobat software.
    • Designs the overall architecture and structure of the software system.
    • Makes high-level decisions about technologies and frameworks.
    • Ensures components work together cohesively.
    • Writes, tests, and maintains the code that makes up the software.
    • Collaborates with other team members to design and implement features.
    • Follows coding standards and best practices.
    • Debugs and fixes issues in the code.
    • Designs the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the software.
    • Creates wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
    • Ensures the software is visually appealing and user-friendly.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience supporting the Department of the Navy or comparable Government Agencies; and with at least three (3) years’ experience directly supporting a program management office (PMO) or similar organization providing scheduling services.
  • Typically requires relevant experience in system design, testing, and analysis considering subsystem/component reliability/availability/maintainability and modifying system design accordingly to achieve required system operational thresholds/objectives.
  • Common experience in developing and maintaining detailed resource loaded schedules of projects using MS Project Software.
  • Typical experience in developing, managing and validating professional certifications and qualifications for potential new hires includes (but not limited to) the following areas below:
  • Demonstrates experience managing, tracking and reporting; finance/funding status and staffing levels for respective department, across multiple projects, incorporating mixed appropriation funding types.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in engineering or a related technical field is desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.

 

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $96,700 – $100,000. This position is eligible to participate in our corporate 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) programs, and may be eligible for performance bonuses, and other rewards and benefits (see more about our compensation package and benefits offered at Culture @ INDUS | INDUS Technology). The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
