The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC’s forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls; manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45).

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Network and Computer Systems Administrator will manage and secure physical and virtual IT environments by performing system maintenance, vulnerability scanning, VMware administration, and configuring network devices such as routers, switches, and TACLANEs on the Hawaii Detachments Support Services contract. This includes corporate, RDT&E unclassified and classified, Secret Defense Research and Engineering Network, NMCI unclassified and classified systems, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. This position is located in Ford Island, HI.

What You'll Do

  • Operate and monitor mainframe or minicomputer systems to process data.
  • Set up equipment and systems based on operating instructions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Test new or updated programs to ensure proper functionality.
  • Use judgment to solve problems when standard procedures don’t apply.
  • Scan and maintain systems using compliance tools like ACAS (Tenable/Nessus).
  • Identify and address system vulnerabilities with minimal false positives.
  • Deploy and maintain Windows 10 Secure Host Baseline (SHB).
  • Apply system updates using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
  • Perform routine system maintenance, including applying patches, IAVAs, and STIGs.
  • Support VMware environments, including virtual machine setup and management.
  • Install and secure networking equipment like routers, switches, and TACLANEs.
  • Ensure network and device security through proper configuration and best practices.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active Tier 5 (T5) Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Associate's degree in cybersecurity or a related STEM field from an accredited university is required.
    • Requires Cyber Security Workforce Designation within identified timeline IAW DOD 8570.01 and DFAR clauses.
  • At least three (3) years of network administration, system administration, hardware, and software support in unclassified or unclassified environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in system administration tasks, including operating and monitoring computer systems, performing routine maintenance, applying patches, and managing compliance updates using tools such as WSUS, STIGs, and IAVAs.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in identifying and mitigating system vulnerabilities through vulnerability scanning tools like ACAS (Tenable/Nessus) and deploying secure baselines such as Windows 10 SHB.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting and securing IT infrastructure, including VMware environments, and configuring and managing network devices such as routers, switches, and TACLANEs.

  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.

 

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $85,000  - $100,000 per year. This position is eligible to participate in our corporate 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) programs, and may be eligible for performance bonuses, and other rewards and benefits (see more about our compensation package and benefits offered at Culture @ INDUS | INDUS Technology). The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
