Reporting to the Program Manager, the Electronics Technician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and tests a variety of electronic systems and equipment in support of depot operations. The position requires a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience in electronics maintenance, system troubleshooting, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

 

This is a contingent position expected to be located in Hawthorne, NV. The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent. 

What You'll Do

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, install, modify, and repair electronic equipment and systems, including:
    • Computer-based intrusion detection and CCTV systems
    • Radio communications equipment
    • Plant fire protection systems
    • Audio/visual systems, motor speed controls, photo cell amplifiers, electronic air filters, pyrometers, regulators, water chlorination systems, battery chargers, and automatic temperature controls.
  • Perform repairs and testing of controller instruments, recorders, flow meters, transmitters, fluid controls, solid-state components, and boiler/material handling equipment controls.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment such as multimeters (VOM, VTVM, DVM), power meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and signal generators.
  • Support electrical safety by locating and clearing underground power and signal cables (up to 4160 volts) prior to excavation.
  • Maintain railroad crossing signal equipment at designated locations.
  • Complete all work in accordance with safety and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Accurately document work performed and maintain accountability for assigned tools and equipment.
  • Support depot operations in proximity to chemical/munitions demilitarization facilities.
  • Identify and report potential safety or environmental hazards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of mission requirements.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience with certifiable technical training as an apprentice, or at least one (1) year as a journeyman electronics mechanic required.

  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, drawings, and specifications.

  • Demonstrated skill in using test equipment and performing complex troubleshooting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.

  • Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English Language.

  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds. 
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities. 
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more. 
  • Travel Required ~10% travel required. 
  • Position may require overtime and shift flexibility.
