Reporting to the Program Manager the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Specialist will provide subject matter expertise on AIMD equipment and processes to the CVN ROC, supporting CNAL Code N47 with technical analysis and readiness recommendations for aircraft carrier intermediate maintenance operations.

 

This is a contingent position expected to be located in Norfolk, VA. The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in meetings and conferences to provide recommendations and insight on CVN AIMD Department readiness.
  • Recommend CVN policy and procedural changes relevant to AIMD Department readiness, new-construction outfitting, and new shipboard support programs.
  • Review the ship's maintenance, modernization, and repair status for CNO availabilities and maintenance upkeep; assist Ship's Force in maintaining AIMD material readiness.
  • Assist in collecting, reviewing, integrating, and analyzing historical and current AIMD maintenance information to develop statistical, graphical, and text-based analyses of equipment reliability and maintenance trends.
  • Analyze AIMD equipment and Ship Change Documents (SCD) in the Navy Data Environment (NDE), and identify deficiencies requiring Departure from Specification (DFS) issuance and corrective action scheduling.
  • Coordinate with FRC, NSSA, MSMO, NNSY, and W-130 on AIMD Department matters.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • Eight (8) years' experience with an AIMD Department aboard aircraft carriers, with strong knowledge of AIMD equipment and test benches.
  • Eight (8) years' working knowledge of AIMD policies, procedures, and instructions on CVNs.
  • Aviation technical background, with experience working with Naval aviation crews.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Travel Required ~10% travel required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working directly with FRC, NSSA, MSMO, NNSY, and W-130.
  • Experience analyzing and evaluating AIMD Department equipment and recommending maintenance actions to the Maintenance Program Manager.
  • Experience with the Navy Data Environment (NDE) for Ship Change Documents (SCD).
  • Experience with system/equipment deficiency identification and Departure from Specification (DFS) processes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.
